Development and release

The Bard’s Tale is a fantasy role-playing video game series established by Interplay Productions in the year 1985. Two sequels got release in the 1980s before the series went NULL. In 2004, inXile Entertainment develop the spin off and then it was release.

In January 2015, Brian Fargo, CEO of inXile Entertainment announce to develop The Bard’s Tale IV. Fargo’s dream was to a create a true hit to the original series of Bard’s Tale. In 2015, the studio announce they would launch a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund development costs for The Bard’s Tale IV. InXile had previously used Kickstarter to successfully crowdfund previous projects—Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera.[1] The crowdfunding campaign for The Bard’s Tale IV launched on 2 June 2015 with a target of US$1.25 million.[1] The crowdfunding surpassed its target on 15 June 2015.[4]

The game is built using Unreal Engine 4. The development team will make use of photogrammetry to create textures for 3D objects.
